Why is Technology so important in education?

    We all know how important technology is in our lives, not only because it helps us to be in touch with our dear ones, and can help us acquire certain skills to succeed in the careers of the future, but it also makes tasks easier and solves many problems of mankind. I can say with full conviction that 2020 was not only the year of endless sacrifices and hardships due to the pandemic but also the year of technology, where without it everything would have been different. We saw how technology turned into such an indispensable 'tool' within a relatively short period of time, and everyone started to use it for certain reasons. And the question arises: Why is technology so important in teaching and learning too? Is it important for the reasons mentioned before or for other reasons too? 

   Due to the use of technology in education during this period of the pandemic, teaching and learning were not interrupted but carried out successfully and if we were in a time where technology was not so developed teaching would have been interrupted for a long period of time. But let us not forget that the use of technology in teaching did not become important only because of the Covid pandemic, it has always been important in this field for various reasons and the year we left behind was not the first in the use of technology in teaching because it has been used even earlier by teachers and proffessors to achieve a teaching as perfect as possible. 

  By using technology in teaching, teachers can develop more creative and innovative lesson plans to hold the attention of their classes, and this may help students learn more. It is necessary to mention that by using technology students can learn at their own pace, it can enhance individual learning and it can enable students to research into subjects which are more and more difficult to learn. 

  Technology helps teachers make teaching more meaningful, fun and interesting. This can be achieved by using certain programs such as PowerPoint where the teachers can write down the main points of the lesson; or Video Projector with which teachers may show their classes the main points of the lessons or certain videos that are related to the lesson.  

  Virtual classrooms, and other technology tools can not only make class more and more lively, they also create more inclusive learning environments that foster collaboration between students, and enable teachers to evaluate students' performance.

  Technology use can allow students to be actively thinking about informations related to the lessons, which means that the students are able to make choices about how to obtain or display the informations they have learn in an actively way. And also by using technology often students may be able to  collaborate more with their classmates to create interesting projects and then show them in class. What is worth noting is that with the use of technology in the classroom the role of the teacher changes to some extent. The teacher is no longer the center of attention as the dispester of the information, but students are, and this due to their work on projects etc. 

  We must mention that it seems using technology in education, there is an increase in motivation in students. They have more confidence while they are talking about lesson or when they are presenting projects. And also students are able to acquire impressive level skill of using computer software or other programs.  

   Finally, I may say that technology not only provides students to numerous online resources, but also helps them in the learning process.
